History of our Founder
Classic Cars are my Passion! I've been Collecting, Restoring, Buying and Selling Classic Cars for over 40 years.
I am Industry Certified in every aspect Auto Restoration and Collision Repair. From detail and paint, to metal, Body, frame and uni-body technician... To Multi-Location, High-Volume Production Manager and Collision Center CEO. Previously licensed in commercial automotive real estate, site and facility acquisitions.
I owned COLLISION CARE for 32 years, two locations, in Lilburn, GA and in Lawrenceville, GA. Managing more than 50 employees as we repaired as many as 300 wrecked cars per month for many years, with sales of $4.7M per year in insurance repairs. Including an 18 bay restoration department, where we did entire frame off restorations on most every kind of Classic Car, 1981-2013.
My first job in the body shop was in 1974, I was 16 years old, at Baker Motor Co, the Jaguar-Ferrari dealer on Peachtree Street in Buckhead / Atlanta, GA. I learned paint and body work restoring XKE Jaguars in the '70s.
In the '80s I started Mike's Body Shop, customizing Corvettes, Restoring Antiques and Classics and Collision Care to do the Insurance jobs.
By the '90s Collision Care had became the very first DRP shop for all the major insurance companies and my business grew like crazy!
My Dixie Dream Cars concept was born in the 1970s. When I was a teenager I helped friends and neighbors sell their cars by consignment on a handshake. Back then, even before the auto trader magazine, Muscle Cars were everyday cars! The only options an individual had to sell his own car, was to run it in the newspaper or risk parking it in front of the bank on Sunday mornings with a "For Sale" sign on it. I used to look for those cars parked at the bank that needed some work, contact the owner, offer to fix it up, clean it up and then sell it for him and split the money. People loved the idea and it worked out great for both! This is how I enjoy helping people now!
